The Attara catcheri -the government house was constructed in the year1868 by L.B.Bowring when he was commissioner of Mysore princely State .It was designed by the then Chief Engineer Mr R.H.Sankey.A garden was laid out around it in 1870 and it was named Mead,s Park in the begining and later it was rechristned as "Cubbon Park" in the memory of Sir Mark Cubbon who did great service to the State as Commissioner from 1834 to 1861.
